Variable area flowmeters

Some principles
First of all what is an Asameter? Produced by ASA since 1947, it is a variable area flowmeter for gases and liquids, based on Bernoulli principle. The simply design of these process meters, the possibility of measuring very low flow rates of fluid and the high resistance to different kind of fluids, make the Asameter world wide diffused and very well known in the industrial field. The Asameter is essentially made of a borosilicate glass or stainless steel AISI316L tube and an internal moving part called float. The tube is conical and calibrated with very short tolerance and the float, suitably shaped, has a diameter a little lower than the minimum diameter of the tube. When the fluid flows upward the float lifts and stops itself at a certain height, pointing at the flow rate. A graduated scale on the tube allows to read the flow rate in correspondence with the stop point of the float. The scale carved on the glass tube or externally reported let the operator read the flow at the stop point of the float. Variable area Asameters for gases and liquids are versatile and suitable for any different plant requirements. Flow range covered is 1-10 going from 1 nl/h up to 2.000 nm3/h ( T=20°C and P=1013 mbar a) for air or from 0,05 l/h up to 120 m3/h when dealing with water. Asameters are classified in their own families according to metering tube construction material.
Metal tube Asameters
Used more universally than the glass tube meters, they can measure opaque and chemically aggressive fluids, with high operating temperature and pressure. They are commonly used also with environmental process conditions for their high precision in flow rates. The new version, model L, for low flow rates and model C-G, for high range, are available with microprocessor transmitter with analogical output overlapped to Hart protocol and with LCD 8 digits display for instant flow - direct or percentage reading – and total flow (mod. C-G). They are available also for applications with low working pressure, with chance of water hammer and for classified areas (EEx ia ) or for hazardous environments (EEx d) both certified Atex.
Application fields
Pharmaceutical. Petrol. Water plant. Gas industry. Industry for hazardous environments.
Glass tube Asameters
They allow to watch the float and the flow of the measured fluid directly. Reading scale can be either engraved directly on measuring tube (pyrex glass), also customized in agreement to datasheets requirements, or on a name- plate (metal or plastic label) stuck beside measuring tube. “E” and “N” models are available with many kind of connections in order to meet all installation requirements. “1900-01-03-11-12” are models very suited for lab and testing applications or whenever small dimensions flowmeters are required.
Application fields
Labs. Food industry. Wine industry. Chemical industry. Pharmaceutical. Petrol. Water plant. Gas industry.
Plastic tube Asameters
They are made of shock-proof plastic material that allows to watch the flow rate and fluid inside the tube. They are very suited for aggressive and corrosive liquids.
Application fields
Labs. Petrol. Chemical industry. Pharmaceutical.
