ASAMAG, the new EM flowmeter by ASA, is a high performance product that is located in the upper sector of market for high quality flow measurement and is a completion of EM meters range already produced by ASA during the years. This new model, at high performance solutions, both as hardware and software, is available also as ATEX (on request). It can be defined as an HI-TEC line, addressed to very demanding customers from the point of view of performance and precision.
ASAMAG is very versatile as dimensions, connections, and lining materials; it is bidirectional without any pressure loss, having no moving part inside the measuring tube. For this reason it is considered not intrusive to measuring. ASAMAG has a very wide range of metering; from 10:1 to 400:1. Output signal is both analogical and digital; and qualitatively the instrument is very performing, having accuracy < +-0,5% of reading and repeatability of 0,1% r.v. They are also good to be used with any liquids with conductivity better than 5 μS/cm; they are insensitive to temperature and pressure variations, density or viscosity of process fluid. Also the ratio performance/costs make this instruments appreciable and really convenient if compared with other flow measuring technologies on market. ASAMAG find their place in the following fields: chemical, pharmaceutical, food, bottling, beverage, paper and steel production.
ASAMAG advantages are:
- Maximum control (also in remote). ASA can provide also a serial interface software usable by PC and the port RS232 (or RS485) of the converter, making possible the visualization and the modification of process parameters.
- All ASAMAG are equipped with Sensoreprom unit that contains all calibration data of sensor tube and all the settings of converter for the lifetime of the product. At start-up ASAMAG can measure fluid without any presetting or start-up procedure. Fabrication parameters and instrument size are recordered inside the Sensoreprom together with the working parameters set by customer. In the event of tube substitution, Sensoreprom make it very easy and rapid. No programmation is necessary. ASAMAG updates automatically all parameters.
- Great flexibility is intended as the chance to have compact or remote version with the same measuring tube and converter, and use the same instrument for measurement and control of different industrial processes.
Technical specification of microprocessor converter ASAMAG
The electrical design provide the following outputs: 1 output 0/4-20mA with Hart protocol overlapped (on request); 1 pulse output programmable with intelligent pulse length; 2 relays for monitoring, dosing, PID regulation, Alarms; Serial port RS485 or RS232; electrical electrode cleaning. Two digital input are also present to activate Totalization Reset, Totalization Block, Autozero, Start Stop dosing. Power supply is available in the following ranges: 20-55 Vdc, 17-45 Vac frequency 50/60 Hz (version 24V); 90-250 Vac frequency 50/60Hz (version 220V). Data visualization is done by graphical LCD back lighted with optical keys, that allow a rapid and intuitive access to the function menu, without the need of opening the frontal cover lid of the housing, keeping unchanged the degree of protection (IP67) also when setting converter. The housing of the electronic converter, realized in agreement to standards EEX d, is accured in the aesthetic and good for whichever type of installation (vertical/horizontal/45°), in painted cast aluminium, guarantees a protection degree IP67 (IP68 upon request). As every flow meters produced by ASA (Asameters) also ASAMAG is rigorously studied and realized with materials of elevated quality, by Italian and European origin, certified and traceable along all production line and the electronic devices inside ASAMAG, are compliant to ROhS directives, ATEX (upon request).

Technical specification of measuring sensor tube:
Sensor tube: manufactured in AISI304; the inner lining is available in PTFE or Hard Rubber or Diflex for high temperatures, with external tube in epoxy painted carbon steel in the versions with flanged or threaded connections, or in AISI 304/316L in the wafer, DIN, Triclover and SMS versions. Special connections on request of the customer. Connections are from DN4 up to DN1000 for the flanged executions; from DN4 up to the DN100 for all the other executions. Electrodes: made in s.s. AISI 316L as standard, Titanium, tantalum, hastelloy C, monel and others on request, for particular applications, with acids or corrosive fluids.
What ask in order to receive the quotation of an electromagnetic flow meter ASAMAG:
- the liquid is conductive or water based?
- the liquid has solid in suspension?
- the process fluid is clear or dark water?
- is local or remote reading demanded?
- are necessary analogical output? if so, which ones?
- which power supply is demanded?
- which is the degree of protection demanded for the installation of the measuring tube and the electronic converter (for example a meter with degree of protection IP65 cannot be installed in a pit with flooding danger. In such case shall be required execution IP68)?
- which is the minimal and maximum flow of the application?
- which is the minimal and maximum pressure of the process fluid?
- which is the minimal and maximum temperature of the process fluid?
- which is the diameter of the piping?
- Is the tube always full?
- is necessary a serial interface?
